Ohio Senate Bill 369 is a piece of proposed legislation introduced to prohibit the force-feeding of birds and the sale of products derived from force-fed birds, such as foie gras. We’ve been working hard to push for this legislation and found senators to sponsor the bill, but we need the public’s support to bring this into law. You can help to save millions of birds by calling and emailing the senators on the Ohio Agricultural and Natural Resources Committee. Below you will find email and phone scripts you can use to contact these senators.

“Hello, my name is [Your Name] and I am a resident of [Your City], Ohio.

I’m calling to ask Senator [Senator’s Name] to support a second hearing for Senate Bill 369, which would prohibit the production and sale of force-fed products in Ohio.

As a constituent, I want to emphasize that this bill is about much more than animal welfare. This is also a matter of public health protection, environmental safety, and guarding Ohio's agricultural economy against unnecessary risks. Our state has already seen millions of animals affected by bird flu (HPAI), resulting in the mass culling of flocks on poultry and egg-laying operations. These outbreaks directly stress our supply chains, drive up grocery prices for everyday consumers, and cost taxpayers millions in agricultural compensation and cleanup efforts.

Ohio should not allow the sale of products that financially support the force-feeding industry, including foie gras, feathers, and down. It makes no sense to keep our markets open to industries that bring added disease risks into our state, especially while our taxpayers are actively spending money to fix the heavy costs associated with bird flu. Please protect our consumer resources and the stability of Ohio agriculture by supporting a second hearing for SB 369.”
